There is no doubt that the Doom franchise is one of the most successful and popular franchises in the gaming industry. Besides being popular, this franchise has also become one of the pop cultures of the 90s. Because of its popularity, Doom was adapted to the big screen in 2005 with the same title. Unfortunately, the film, starring Dwayne Johnson and Karl Urban, failed on the market.
Universal Studios through Universal 1440 Entertainment announced last year that they would work on the latest Doom film titled Doom: Annihilation. This latest film is not a sequel from the 2005 version. The latest news from this film states that the release schedule must be postponed because some elements such as visual effects must be improved and it is quite time-consuming. But, Universal has released an official synopsis for the film Doom: Annihilation.
This synopsis is very different from the previous Doom movie which might be too complicated in the storyline. Doom: Annihilation shows how marines fight against terrible creatures. Now, for the geeks who have played the game, they will certainly be familiar with the marines sent for this mission which they call UAC marines.
In addition to providing an official synopsis, as quoted from Dead Central, they also released three first-look images from the film that you can see above. If there are no more setbacks, the Doom: Annihilation film will be released on October 2019.
Synopsis
Doom: Annihilation will follow the story of a group of space marines when they answer an emergency call from a base in space, then they find the base has been ruled by a terrible creature that threatens to destroy the earth.
