Parasite tells the family life of Kim Ki-Taek (Song Kang-ho), a retired driver who is married to his wife Choong Sook (Chang Hyae-jin) with their two teenage children in an uninhabitable underground apartment.
They are all unemployed. To make ends meet, they depend on a small income from folding pizza boxes. But one day, the son in the family, Ki-woo gets a tutoring job that allows him to get a steady income.
The work itself is actually obtained by Ki-woo to replace his friend who is studying abroad. Being the foundation of his family, Ki-woo then came to a family home that would pay him as a tutor, the Park family who was an entrepreneur in the IT field.
But when Ki-woo arrives at the Park family’s home and meets a young woman from the house, Yeon-Kyo, that’s when the strategy to pull her family out of poverty begins.
Not only that, between the two families with different economic strata, there was a symbiosis. The Kim family provides luxury services for the Park family who expels the Kim family from a poor neighborhood. But the symbiosis did not last long. Wrapped with comedy, this thriller is also full of battles between greed and all prejudice.
The film Parasite stars South Korean actor Song Kang-ho, who plays Kim Ki-Taek, then Jang Hye-jin as Choong-sook, Choi Woo-Shik as Kim Ki-woo, and Park So-dam as Kim Ki -Jung.
Parasite film had become a champion at the box office during the first two weeks of its screening. Now, the film has sold 9 million tickets and gained the US $ 67 million, only in South Korea.
So far, the Parasite has been aired in South Korea, France, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Indonesia, and will be followed in Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, and Taiwan. As for Russia, Germany, Poland, Canada, the United States, Spain, Greece and Hungary, they will broadcast Parasites in the coming months.
