Will Smith and Tom Holland will be filling in the voices of the friendly super-spy and genius with the creator of the gadget in the first trailer for the animated action-comedy film from Blue Sky Studios, Spies in Disguise. The film is based on a short cartoon by Lucas Martell released in 2009, Pigeon: Impossible and marks the debut of Blue Sky Studios animator and story artist Nick Bruno and Troy Quane.
The story of Spies in Disguise focuses on Lance Sterling (Smith), the greatest spy in the world, and Walter Beckett (Holland), the genius who is not good at socializing creating gadgets that Lance uses in his mission. However, when an unexpected event puts the entire human population in danger, forcing Lance and Walter out of their comfort zone and working together to save the world as a team. Rashida Jones, Karen Gillan, Ben Mendelsohn, Masi Oka, and DJ Khaled also took part in the animated film espionage adventure from Blue Sky.
The Spies in Disguise Trailer can now be watched and planned to be screened in theaters along with the Disney family live-action The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, starting this weekend.
The premise and trailer show that Spies in Disguise is a comedy between James Bond and Q of the Bond franchise, reminiscent of the action-comedy film Paul Feig, Spy, played by Melissa McCarthy as a CIA agent undergoing a field mission for the first time. Of course, Spies in Disguise will be a far more family-friendly offering compared to the Feig parody which is definitely R-rated from Bond films, as Blue Sky used to present.
