The trailer opens with the scene of Rey (Daisy Ridley) being in a desert, waiting for someone to come. Shortly afterward, Luke Skywalker’s (Mark Hamill)voice said, “We have left everything we know. Now, the legacy of thousands of generations lives with you.”
From the dialogue that was heard, we can assume that Luke managed to survive as a force ghost, just like Obi-Wan, Yoda, Qui Gon Jinn, and Anakin Skywalker. In addition, it is also to be expected that Luke and the other ghost ghosts prepared Rey as the founder of the latest generation of Jedi after the previous generation vanished at the hands of Kylo Ren or Ben Solo.
Rey Has New Lightsaber
As happened in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the lightsaber that Luke passed on to Rey was damaged in his fight with Kylo Ren. The lightsaber is split in two when Rey and Kylo fight with the Force to fight over the lightsaber.
In the movie trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Rey seems to have a new lightsaber. Judging from the design, it seems Rey retained Luke’s lightsaber design and even if there were changes, it was not significant.
The presence of the new lightsaber also marks the completion of the Jedi education that Rey underwent. In various Star Wars stories, making lightsaber is part of someone’s ‘graduation exam’ to start becoming a Jedi.
Keep in mind, making a lightsaber is not an easy matter. Because, Jedi candidates must utilize the strength of the Force he has to manipulate the cyber crystal, the raw material of lightsabers.
Rey Are you in Tatooine?
As stated earlier, Rey was in a desert when the trailer started. The desert looked deserted without any appearance of droids, aircraft wreckage, or scavenger.
Throughout the story of Star Wars on the silver screen, there are only three planets known to have a desert setting. The three planets are Tatooine, Jedha, and Jakku. Considering Jedha had been destroyed in Rogue One and Jakku was full of the wreckage of the First Order and the Empire, Rey might be in Tatooine.
Rey vs Kylo Ren
Star Wars Trailer: Rise of Skywalker shows that Kylo Ren is the figure Rey is waiting for in the desert. This can be seen from the form of a TIE Interceptor fighter that is only owned by Kylo Ren. With the plane, Kylo tried to hit Rey, but Rey, fortunately, could stunt to avoid it.
In Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Kylo Ren has special attention and feeling towards Rey. However, everything changes when Rey refuses to join Kylo to become a follower of The Dark Side.
New Planet
New Star Wars films always introduce new planets that have never been shown or alluded to in previous films. In the Star Wars trailer: The Rise of Skywalker, it appears that A-Wing warplanes belonging to The Resistance visited a new planet filled with cliffs and hills.
Kylo Ren Fixes the Mask
In the Star Wars: The Last Jedi movie, Kylo Ren ruined the mask he wore during the Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The mask was broken when he realized he still had doubts to fully become adherents of The Dark Side of The Force.
Apparently, the mask will appear again in the film Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The movie trailer shows someone repairing Kylo Ren’s badly damaged mask.
BB8 and D-0
BB8 will have a new partner in the form of a small droid called D-0. In contrast to BB8 or R2D2, D-0 has a much smaller form with wheels being a large part of its body.
Chase Action First Order and The Resistance
One part of the trailer shows Poe and Finn ‘cat and mouse’ with First Order troops chasing them with a jetpack. Meanwhile, Finn and Poe only have skiff ( speeder that resembles a motorboat ) wreckage.
